CERTIFICATES FOR TRAILS:
Certificates are valid for 2 years from the date of being awarded.
They have to be renewed after two years with a re-assessment. Generally, it is a follow-up on the initial reporting and issues that had to be solved. (Remark: It can be a little bit cheaper from the assessors, but they have to decide.)
The fees are charged by the WTN directly to the trail organization.
The assessors may charge for additional costs.
The certified trails will be visible online – if they are not renewed, after a 6 month grace period they will be removed from the list.
Fees: per 2 years period/km
0 – 10 km 200 USD
> 10 – 100 km 500 USD
> 100 – 250 km 750 USD
> 250 – 1,000 km 1,500 USD
> 1,000 km on request
The WTN preferred solution is to directly invoice the trail organization by the GFT Team. If this is not possible by any reason, the second-best solution is that the transaction is issued through the assessor or regional chapter.
All prices are appropriate for EU countries and US/CAN etc.
GFT Price reduction factor for countries with lower income.
The categorization of countries into high, middle, and low-income groups is based on the classification used by the World Bank. The World Bank uses gross national income (GNI) per capita to determine income groups, and it has the following thresholds for classification:
- High-income countries: GNI per capita of $12,536 or more.
- Upper-middle-income countries: GNI per capita between $4,046 and $12,535.
- Lower-middle-income countries: GNI per capita between $1,046 and $4,045.
- Low-income countries: GNI per capita of $1,045 or less.
These thresholds are updated annually by the World Bank and are based on data from the World Development Indicators. The groups help identify the development status of countries and assist in policy-making and international aid decisions.

PAYMENT TERMS:
The trail organizations can initiate the certification process independently with an assessor.
Once the assessment is ready to be submitted to the GFT team, the trail organization needs to make the payment of the certification fee to WTN.
The GFT team will issue the certificate after the fees have been received by the WTN. The WTN is under no obligation to issue the certification if the assessment is not approved. The fees will not be refunded in the case where the application is not approved.
